Averill Chase has published widely and worked closely with authors on developing books in the following subject categories: Australiana (including popular history, military history, aboriginal studies, current affairs, politics); travel (travel narrative, guide books, illustrated souvenir and coffee table books); true crime; biography (including memoir and autobiography); sport; natural history; humour (including joke and cartoon books); lifestyle (food, wine, cookbooks, gardening); health and personal development (including family health, parenting, personal relationships and self-improvement); and general (including quiz and trivia books, baby and other naming books, dictionaries).
Averill is a member of the Food Media Club of Australia and the Wine Press Club of NSW and has previously served on the Executive Committees of each. She has had a long association with the Australian Food Media Awards acting as a judge for their 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008 awards. In addition Averill was a judge for the 2006 Australian Society of Travel Writers Annual Awards and the 2007 World Food Media Awards.
