- Does The Authors' Agent accept unsolicited submissions?
- No, it is preferred that you contact The Authors' Agent by email prior to sending any submissions. This will enable us to ascertain from the outset whether or not The Authors' Agent is the right agent for you.
- Can I email my submission to The Authors' Agent?
- No, unfortunately The Authors' Agent cannot accept any emailed submissions.
- Does The Authors' Agent handle all kinds of manuscripts?
- No, The Authors' Agent specialises in adult non-fiction, although from time to time the Agency may consider children's or adult fiction.
- What information should be included in my submission?

- Should I include the entire manuscript with my submission?
- No. Initially, three to four chapters are all that is required by The Authors' Agent. Should The Authors' Agent be interested in your work and wish to see more the Agency will let you know.
- After a submission has been made, how long do I have to wait before I receive any feedback from The Authors' Agent?
- You should expect some feedback within six to eight weeks of making your submission to The Authors' Agent.
- What happens once I have made a submission?
- The Authors' Agent will acknowledge receipt of your submission. Following evaluation of its commercial potential, the Agency will contact you to let you know whether or not the Agency is interested in representing you. In the event that The Authors' Agent sees no commercial potential in your work your submission will only returned if a stamped self-addressed enveloped has been supplied.
- Does it cost anything to have my submission evaluated?
- No, the evaluation is made by The Authors' Agent at no charge to you. However The Authors' Agent does not undertake to supply a written evaluation of your work nor does the Agency undertake to provide reasons for rejection of submissions.
- What happens if The Authors' Agent offers to represent my work?
- You will be expected to enter into an Agency Agreement with The Authors' Agent. A draft agreement will be supplied for your consideration. This agreement sets out the terms and conditions of our relationship.
- What services does The Authors' Agent offer its clients?
- Once the Agency agreement has been signed The Authors' Agent will work closely with you to fine tune your submission, providing valuable insights into the publishing process and current publishing trends, prior to our personally approaching selected publishers. The Agency will negotiate the best possible deal for your work, ensure maximum exploitation of subsidiary rights, handle all contract negotiations, collect earnings on your behalf and mediate as required during the publishing process.
- What remuneration will The Authors' Agent expect for representing my work to Publishers?
- There are no up-front charges. Like most literary agents, The Authors' Agent works on a success fee basis. This means that The Authors' Agent is paid a commission on all earnings, once the work has been contracted to a publishing house.
- Are there any additional charges to the author?
- The commission charged by The Authors' Agent covers all expenses incurred in selling your work to publishers, including photocopying of submissions, postage and handling, telecommunication charges, travel expenses, etc, with the exception of any extraordinary charges which may arise from time to time and which would be negotiated with you in advance.
