Simon Dodd

Simon Dodd has been writing professionally for television, radio and print for over 20 years. He was awarded a prize for creative writing in high school and, in 1984, received 1st prize in The National Times Humorous Writing Competition. Simon has written for a number of Andrew Denton's successful TV shows, including Blah Blah Blah, Denton and The Money or the Gun, which won three Australian Television Awards (Penguins) and a United Nations Media Peace Prize.

Writing for ABC television's The Glasshouse, Simon was part of a writing team that won four consecutive Australian Writers' Guild AWGIES for comedy. In 2004 a screenplay Simon co-wrote with fellow comedy writer Bruce Griffiths, entitled Big Turkey, won first prize in the inaugural 'Find the Funny' Comedy Screenplay contest, beating over 400 other entries from around the world. A play Simon wrote called Plaything was declared 'Play of the Month' for August 2008 by the Australian Script Centre. Currently Simon writes for the Ten Network's Good News Week. He and his co-writers recently won the 2009 AWGIE award for "Comedy - Sketch or Light Entertainment". Currently Simon is working on his first novel.
